Barton Community College will host a launch event for the nation’s first Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in Federal Human Resources from 2–4 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Riley Community Center, 446 Seitz Dr., Fort Riley. Community leaders and military families are invited to learn about the program’s goals, curriculum, and role in developing the federal workforce.

The innovative degree program creates a direct pathway for service members, veterans, and military spouses to transition into civilian careers in federal service. Graduates will be prepared for stable, well-paying jobs with strong benefits, including retirement and healthcare.

Barton Vice President of Instruction Elaine Simmons said the college welcomed the opportunity from GKG to better serve military families. GKG Vice President Donnielle DeMesme added that this program formalizes more than two decades of GKG’s federal workforce development efforts.
