Clay Center’s Newest Mural is in the Works!

Clay Center, KS- Clay Center’s newest mural through A Mural Movement is on the way to being created.

Christian and his wife Jessica Stanley, the artists with C. Stanley, gave a run down on the process that we can expect with his artwork as it comes together.

Today they will be prepping the way by pressure washing the walls to make sure that any loose paint or mortar is removed.

Stanley said that if they don’t put that moisture block in, any moisture that is left in the wall can cause bubbles and blisters later.

They will then paint a base on the wall and then use a doodle grid.

Stanley says the doodle grid will look like graffiti or someone decided to take it over, but have no fear, that is part of the process.  The doodle grid is for more complex work such as text, forms and figures. They will then begin out lining, painting, and doing the base layers.  The half way point should be completed in the next 3 days.

The last part of the painting is where the details come in.

If you would like to sit and watch the creation of this artwork, Stanley encourages it.

The mural is being painted on the side of Ward Craft Home Store and is expected to be completed by the 2nd of July.
