The Board approved school-based fundraisers for January 2026 to June 2026. The Board also approved an out-of-state trip to the Forensic Nationals Tournament that will be held in Richmond, Virginia, next June.
Mike McCoy, Director of Transportation, presented his annual transportation report. Current year goals include training and retaining staff. McCoy is trying to develop a staff CDL training program to have more staff members become certified to drive buses. He is continuing to align bus routes with the current staffing. They are looking at Emergency routes for inclement weather travel.
Brett Nelson, Superintendent, presented his monthly Superintendent report. The new sound system for the CCCMS gymnasium has been ordered. Official student FTE, which is how government aid is dispersed, for 2025 showed a decline of nearly 43 pupils compared to last year.
Anita Breen, TLEC Director, presented her monthly TLEC report. They are working on getting IEP paperwork finalized so that they have an accurate count for this year’s count day. A Child Check event will be held on October 16th and 17th in Clay Center.
Jaclyn Pfizenmaier, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, presented her monthly report. The end of the first nine weeks is October 17th. Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for October 22nd and 23rd. There will be no school on the 23rd and 24th due to Conferences. They are working on this year’s Driver’s Education course. They have one interested instructor and will communicate with parents when dates are set.
USD 379 was awarded a PartnerEd grant from the Patterson Family Foundation. The grant money will go towards expanding the Career and Technical Education program over the next three years.
The Board discussed the proposed Bond issue. The Board is looking for community feedback on just the 2 options presented during an earlier public Bond meeting.
The meeting ended with approval of personnel, including employment and resignations.
