Wakefield history teacher Garrett Seuser will give a public talk at 2:00 p.m. on July 27th at the Marysville City Building, hosted by the Marshall County Historical Society.
Seuser will discuss his experiences locating military and emigrant campsites along historic trails traveled during westward expansion. At least eight such trails passed through Marshall County. His exploration also covers the activities of Pre-Columbian populations who used the region for hunting and trade.
Using a metal detector, Seuser has uncovered thousands of artifacts and identified the locations of former homes, schools, churches, and other sites of human settlement.
In addition to his fieldwork, Seuser teaches middle and high school American history and incorporates his discoveries into classroom instruction, sharing the tangible connections to the past with his students.
