During the Concordia Fire Department’s (CFD) annual Open House on October 12th, the department showcased its newly donated air compressor from Hutchinson Community College, which originally cost tens of thousands of dollars. Through the donation, CFD only had to pay for maintenance and installation. The compressor refills firefighters’ breathing apparatus used in smoke-filled environments.
With this upgrade, CFD donated its smaller, four-year-old compressor to Miltonvale Fire and EMS. Miltonvale Fire Chief Richard Schultz said their old unit had failed beyond repair, forcing them to rely on neighboring departments for air refills.
The donation will save Miltonvale thousands and allow them to operate independently again, reinforcing the strong spirit of cooperation between area fire departments.
