Obituary-Harold Dale Fehlman

Harold Dale Fehlman, age 99, died May 28, 2023, at the Chapman Valley Manor, Chapman, KS. He was born August 18, 1923, to Rudolph and Marie (Otto) Fehlman on the family farm in Clay County, KS. Harold was a life long resident of the Wakefield area.  He attended Summer Set School through grade school, and was a 1941 graduate of Wakefield High School.  While in high school Harold was very active in raising and showing livestock.  In 1938 he had the honor of showing his steer at American Royal and won Grand Champion with his Angus steer at the State Fair.  Harold lived on and farmed his family’s homestead in Wakefield nearly his entire life. He put in his last crop rotation at the age of 95.  Harold married Mildred Nitsche on August 24, 1950. She preceded him on October 10, 2022. Harold and Mildred were very active in 4-H. In 1984 his family received the Kansas 4-H family of the year award.  He served terms on the Fair Board, Alida Cemetery Board, Republican Township Board, Wakefield Coop Board and was serving on the Alida Coop Board when the lake was put in and Alida was moved to the Chapman area. Harold was a member of the Wakefield Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Harold is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Alicia Fehlman; sister, Luella and brother-in-law, Leland Schmutz.

Funeral Services: Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Wakefield Methodist Church in Wakefield, KS

Minister: Reverend Maria Foerschler

Burial: Alida Cemetery, Junction City, KS

Visitation: Monday, June 5, 2023 from 5-7 PM at the Wakefield Methodist Church
