Manhattan Fire Leads to Drug Arrest

By Jayson Henderson

Manhattan resident Sarah Easterday, 31, has been apprehended following her arrest on a Riley County District Court warrant. Easterday faces charges related to the distribution and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within close proximity to a school, cultivation of marijuana, endangering a child, and two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia. The warrant traces back to a fire incident that occurred on December 23, 2021, in a Manhattan residence. Responding officers discovered marijuana within the burning house, prompting a subsequent investigation.

Easterday’s arrest resulted in a total bond of $30,000. As of the time of this report, she is no longer in custody. Authorities are expected to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the December 2021 fire and the alleged drug-related activities. The charges she faces underscore the seriousness of drug-related offenses, particularly when they involve proximity to educational institutions and potential harm to children.
