Arlen Milton Richter, age 79 of Barnes, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 at his daughter’s residence in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born on April 18, 1944, in Waterville, the son of Milton William and Hulda Elizabeth (Steenbock) Richter.
On December 22, 1962, he married Dixie Marie Gross in Marysville. She preceded him in death in 2019.
Arlen was a lifetime farmer and member of the Fancy Creek Zion United Methodist Church. He also worked as a welder for Linn Post and Pipe. He served on the Barnes Elevator Board and enjoyed tractor pulls, camping, and fixing antique tractors.
He is survived by two daughters, Becky Schurle of Clay Center and Cindy Richter of Kansas City, Missouri; one son, Derek Richter of Ottawa, and four grandchildren, Blaine Schurle, Trevin Schurle, Jacey Schurle and Vanessa Richter.
In addition to his wife Dixie, he was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janice Johnson and one brother, Carroll Richter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Fancy Creek Zion Church with Pastor Sandy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fancy Creek Zion Cemetery.
