Location Coordinator for Wreaths Across America Shares How Community Can Get Involved This Year

By Trish Svoboda

Last year 58 cemeteries in Kansas, and over 3600 cemeteries nationwide participated in Wreaths Across America. This year’s theme is Serve and Succeed.

For the past 7 years in Clay Center, members of the Nathan Edson chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, or DAR, along with the American Legion and community volunteers have adorned the graves of over 1200 veterans with wreaths at the Greenwood cemetery.

Jeanna Fancella, location coordinator, said they have a goal of 1300 wreaths, and are currently only about 300 shy of that goal. She talks about how the community can get involved.

Jeanna also talks about how they’ve encouraged younger members of the community to participate.

The event takes place on December 16th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a short ceremony, followed by the placing of the wreaths.
