The Cloud County Community College Board of Trustees met on Monday, January 22nd for their regular meeting. The board approved the purchase of an Advanced Pediatric HAL Simulator for the Nursing Department. This simulator will be used in the Nursing and Allied Health Program and amounts to a total of $60,625.28.
The Director of Nursing and Allied Health, Stefanie Perret, said this simulator is the world’s most advanced pediatric patient simulator. It can simulate emotions through facial expressions, as well as movements and speech. The North Central Kansas Medical Center supports this equipment because they have found that it helps reduce errors for new graduates entering the field.
The Kansas Board of Regents Nursing Grant will help pay $27,000. The workforce development funds will help pay $10,014, and then $23,611.28 will come from nursing lab fees.
