Wakefield Principal Mike Teeter To Retire This Year

By Quinn O’Hara

Wakefield Principal Mike Teeter will be retiring at the end of the current school year.

The longtime educator and former high school sports coach has served the Wakefield school and several other Kansas school districts since the mid 1980s. Despite his many years as an educator, Teeter says he initially aimed to become an anthropologist:

Teeter says over his two years with the school, he most enjoyed Wakefield’s passion for it’s school and community:

Teeter says he plans to spend his retirement with his wife in Hiawatha to spend more time with family.

USD 379 Superintendent Brett Nelson says the district has already identified a new principal for Wakefield, and the School Board will formally hire him at the February USD 379 Board Meeting.
