Marysville City Administrator in Final Stages

By Ryan Duey

Marysville Mayor Todd Frye expressed optimism about the progress of hiring a new city administrator during a City Council meeting. He acknowledged that the process was in its final stages, attributing the delay to details being ironed out. A special meeting on March 12th did not yield any action.

The council had previously met on March 6th for a special session to deliberate on the administrator search. Following executive sessions, the Council voted to offer the position to Joshua Haverkamp and initiate contract negotiations.

Haverkamp, currently a Cookingham-Noll Fellow in the Kansas City, Mo., city manager’s office, emerged as the preferred candidate after the Feb. 29th interviews. His background includes management internships with the Manhattan and Overland Park city managers. Haverkamp holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kansas State University in political science and public administration, respectively.
