On Tuesday, March 19th, Garfield Elementary hosted Donuts with Grown-Ups. The idea originated from the PEP team to celebrate all the grown-ups in students’ lives.
“Anna Knepper and Emily Green have been two key contributors to the success of this event. They wanted to provide an opportunity to celebrate our amazing grown-ups that pour so much love, time, and support into our students, create a space to bring together parents, grandparents, school board members, district leaders, TeamMates Mentors, and community members while also kicking off our state testing ‘season’,” Stefanie Lane, who is the principal at Garfield, said.
Lane explained that state testing is spread out over the end of March and throughout April. 4th grade students take the Kansas State Assessments in ELA and Math and complete a project in Social Studies. 5th grade students take State Assessments in ELA, Math, and Science.
She estimated that just under 100 adults came to the event: from teachers, to parents, to family and friends. “It was truly a special morning,” she shared.
