On February 14, Nikki Burwell of the Clay County Health Department shared her plans with the Clay Counts Coalition to build a community garden next to the County Health Department building.
The plans included several raised box planters, a stepping stone path around them, a birdbath, and more. Organizers originally planned to have some boxes ready to plant by March or April of this year.
However, Burwell, who is helping to organize the project, said due to a lack of funds and other resources, the construction of the project will be temporarily postponed.
Those interested in donating money or assisting with the planning of the project can contact Burwell through the Clay County Health Department. Burwell hopes to have the garden constructed and ready for use within a year’s time.
