The Division of Labor Market Information Services (LMIS) under the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) has introduced a new section on its website, specifically designed to guide Kansans towards achieving their career goals. The site, named Today’s Occupations, Tomorrow’s Opportunities (T.O.T.O.), equips Kansans with tools and information to explore various career options or consider a career transition.
“As the professional landscape continues to evolve, we understand the importance of equipping individuals with the tools and knowledge needed for successful career navigation,” says Secretary Amber Shultz. “T.O.T.O. is not just a website; it’s a comprehensive platform dedicated to empowering individuals to make informed, confident and fulfilling career choices.” The revamped website, www.klic.ks.gov, has been established as a comprehensive hub for individuals on the journey of career exploration. The platform, complete with interactive tools, data, and informative content, is designed to support users at all stages of their career progression.
User-friendly resources available include:
· O*NET: Offers resources related to tasks, skills, and salary details for over 900 professions, and delivers customized career recommendations based on individual interests and work experience.
· CareerOneStop: Offers tools to help employment seekers find the ideal job, taking into account educational background and training information.
· Apprenticeship and Career Training: Offers details on apprenticeships designed to equip individuals for full-time positions.
In the near future, an application for career exploration will be launched to introduce students to potential careers they may not be aware of. In addition, a Reality Check application will be provided to help students identify careers that align with their desired lifestyle.
