The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), is currently investigating a death after human remains were discovered in a rural area of Sumner County, Kansas.
On the afternoon of Friday, May 10, authorities were notified of a body found in Belle Plaine. The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, in response, sought the assistance of the KBI around 4:15 p.m. Agents from the KBI, along with the Crime Scene Response Team, arrived on the scene and recovered the remains.
Following the recovery, the remains were transported to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center for further examination. An autopsy was conducted on Saturday, during which the coroner found indications of foul play.
Currently, the identity of the deceased male remains unknown. Efforts to positively identify him are ongoing, with both the KBI and the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office involved in the process.
