Riley County Health Department Will Host Third Annual Baby Shower

By Payton Tholstrup

The Riley County Health Department will be holding its third annual Community Baby Shower this weekend on Saturday, June 8th. The event will be held at the Sunset Zoo in Manhattan from 9 – 11 a.m., rain or shine.

Registration is not required but is recommended because safe sleep bundles will be available while supplies last. The bundle includes a pack-and-play, a safe sleep sack, and a pacifier. Safe sleep training, resources, and books will be available in both Spanish and English at the event. Resources are intended for expecting families or families with infants up to 12 months of age.

Certified safe-sleep instructors will be at the event. Based on the numbers from last year, the event was a success. The Riley County Health Department emphasizes how important safe sleep practices are.

This event is made possible through grants from the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, and the Kansas Department of Health (KDHE). For more information, go to https://www.rileycountyks.gov/
