On June 6, Representatives Sharice Davids and Emanuel Cleaver visited the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Central Region Headquarters and spoke with the FAA leadership, and addressed the local aviation workforce. They expressed their gratitude to the workers for their efforts in ensuring the safety of Americans during flights. They also deliberated on the effects of the bipartisan FAA reauthorization, which was recently enacted into law. Davids and Cleaver, both supporters of the package, highlighted how it supports the domestic aviation workforce and manufacturing sector, enhances protections for customers during flights, and elevates the safety standards of American aviation.
The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 is set to finance the FAA for the forthcoming five years and establish new directives and benchmarks for the organization. The Act includes an amendment sponsored by Davids, aimed at updating the communication between control towers and pilots. This amendment is expected to limit safety oversights and close calls both in the air and on airport runways.
