The Kansas City Chiefs concluded their final week of voluntary OTAs on Friday. This session followed a medical emergency on Thursday involving defensive end BJ Thompson, who experienced a seizure and cardiac arrest. Rick Burkholder, Vice President of Sports Medicine, reported that Thompson is alert and recovering well.
Burkholder credited the quick response of the Chiefs’ staff and the effectiveness of their emergency action plans. Thursday’s practice was canceled, but the team resumed on Friday after receiving positive news about Thompson’s condition.
Key moments from Friday’s practice included linebacker Jack Cochrane’s pass-breakup, standout receptions by wide receiver Nikko Remigio, and an interception by cornerback Joshua Williams. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes showcased his skills with a no-look pass to tight end Noah Gray.
