The Clay County Commission held its regular weekly meeting on Monday, June 10th with various topics discussed.

Alex Trembath, EMS Director, met with the Board and presented the bids for the purchase of six side-by-sides. After review, Commissioner Thurlow made the motion to purchase a 2018 Polaris Ranger with 215 hours. The motion passed unanimously.

Pam Kemp, Emergency Manager, met with the Board and shared that the Public Health Emergency Preparedness has been updated with 2024-2028 Strategic Priorities for Local Health Departments. She also shared information on the effects of communities that have not participated in the National Flood Insurant Program.

Dana Rickley, County Health Director, met with the Board and reported that the “Becoming a Mom Class” has been well attended so far and they have several more classes set up for the year.

Deb Moon sent in a request asking for permission to use the Courthouse Square on August 9th for the Relay for Life event from 4:00 to 11:00 p.m. Permission was granted by the Board.

Alan Benninga, Sheriff, met with the Board and reported that the new vests for the Officers have been ordered and should arrive soon.

The Clay County Conservation District met with the Board to discuss the 2025 proposed funding request. Lowell Marsh introduced their new District Manager Jessica Boeckman. The Conservation District is requesting a 5% increase in funding for 2025. The Board stated that they will consider the proposed increase when making the 2025 County Budget.
