22 recent Clay Center Community High School graduates were awarded scholarships through the Kansas Business and Professional Women Foundation during the Clay Center BPW meeting on June 11.

The yearly scholarships are given to young women who seek higher education to enhance the pursuit of their entrepreneurial endeavors. Nearly $20,000 was awarded between the students in a combined effort from the KPBW and CCBPW organizations.

LewAnn Schneider, who helped to organize the scholarships, said the money awarded will have a positive impact on the young women and their community.

Schneider noted that the money for the CCBPW scholarship is raised during their yearly car show at Clay Center’s Piotique festival. Additionally, several of the young women awarded with a scholarship that night also aided in the hosting of the show, meaning they themselves raised a portion of the funds that will now help pay for their college education.
