As part of Junction City Main Street’s (JCMS) efforts to revitalize the downtown area, the organization has been unveiling Statues in the community, telling the history of Junction City.

On Saturday, July 13th at 9:45 a.m. JCMS will unveil its final Statue, followed by a Longhorn Cattle Drive Parade through the streets of downtown at 10:00 a.m. Terry Butler, Board of Directors Vice President, said this is part of the downtown revitalization process.

The cattle drive will start at the Livestock Sale Barn, heading up East 6th Street over the new bridge, then North up Washington Street to 10th Street. The Fort Riley Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard and the Central Plains Rodeo Association’s Rodeo Queen will participate in the Drive. Butler said the idea for the cattle drive came from a local rancher.

The Mounted Color Guard will stop near the JCMS Market on Washington Street to greet and converse with attendees. More information can be found on their Facebook page or www.junctioncitymainstreet.org.
