Masters, Palen Selected to Compete at U.S. Olympic Trials

WICHITA – Two Wichita State athletes, Destiny Masters and Brady Palen, are set to compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for the high jump from June 22-30 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Both athletes recently earned All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Masters secured her spot with a clearance of 1.86m (6’1.25″) at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, just one centimeter shy of the automatic qualifying mark, making her one of 22 accepted entries.

Palen achieved a season best of 2.20m (7’2.5″) at both the Arkansas Spring Invitational and the Ward Haylett Invitational, three centimeters short of the automatic qualifying bar, and was accepted as one of 25 entries.

The women’s high jump qualifiers are on June 22 at 7 p.m. CT, with finals on June 24. The men’s qualifiers start on June 27 at 7 p.m. CT, with finals on June 30.
