In May, Twin Valley broke ground on a new fiber to the home internet option in Abilene. The new investment will give Abilene access to an eight-gigabit symmetrical fiber internet service straight to their homes.
The privately owned business has been advocating and working to provide fiber internet to rural communities in Kansas for many years. Ben Foster, CEO, said the City of Abilene has been amazing to work with, and this has been part of their long-term plan.
Foster said fiber optic infrastructure is the most future-proof technology we have as more bandwidth gets consumed. Abilene customers will also get the additional option of an affordable mobile service.
Foster said residents can expect to see a lot more Twin Valley in the community supporting efforts and the town. They plan to finish building the infrastructure by April 2025, but residents can pre-sign up for service now on the Twin Valley website at www.twinvalley.com/abilenefiber.
