“Catch-a-Kid” Contest Returns to Washington County Fair

By Ryan Duey

The Washington County Fair will hold a “Catch-a-Kid” contest for the second year on Friday, July 19th following the Livestock Sale at 7:00 p.m. This unique contest gives youth a chance to catch a male Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goat to bring home.

The goats are generously provided by Steven Wright and his family with the Stick To It 4-H Club. Wright said the family raises these goats.

Youth that caught a Kid last year are welcome to bring it back to this year’s contest to show the goat before the contest.

Wright said available spots are very limited with only two or three open slots left, they do allow alternate sign-ups in case previous signees don’t show up. To sign your youth up to catch a Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goat visit the Fair office on the Washington County Fairgrounds.
