After nearly nine and a half years as Junction City Manager, Allen Dinkel retired on Wednesday, July 17th, concluding a 35-year career in city management that began in Oakley in 1989. During a ceremony at the Municipal Building, HR Director Tammy Melton praised Dinkel’s unwavering commitment to the city. Colleagues presented him with gifts, including a framed certificate and a street sign.
Dinkel highlighted the reduction of the city’s general obligation debt from $115 million to $40 million, attributing this achievement to community efforts. Additionally, he noted the importance of having reserve funds for emergencies. Dinkel emphasized the strength of the city’s employee team and department heads.
The retirement ceremony saw a good turnout, including family, friends, and community members. Dinkel noted that it was a good time for him and his family to retire.
