A local children’s book writer is coming to the Wakefield Library for an author visit.
19-year-old Kady Toole of Washington County, Kan. first began writing during her sophomore year of high school as part of a school project. Toole said it quickly morphed into a project of its own leading her and her family to self-publish her first book, titled Izzy the Cowgirl Corgi.
Now a three-part collection with a fourth in the works, Toole’s self-published books feature her own illustrations of her dog, Izzy, going on adventures.
Both Toole and Izzy will be at the Wakefield Library on August 5 at 2 p. m. Toole said she will share her story of becoming an author, read one of her books, and teach kids how to draw Izzy during her visit.
Toole has visited several libraries, schools, and events in Kansas and in Iowa, where she goes to college. She said she plans to continue her visits to share her work with new audiences and continue to grow as an author.
