Seth Meyer, chief economist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will be a key speaker at Kansas State University’s Risk and Profit Conference, scheduled for August 15-16 in Manhattan.
Rich Llewelyn, an extension assistant in K-State’s Department of Agricultural Economics, added that this year’s event features 22 breakout sessions centered on the theme, “Highs and Lows: Policies, Principles, and Practices in Volatile Markets.”
Meyer will speak during the conference’s first general session on Thursday, August 15, at 12:15 p.m.
The conference itinerary features numerous breakout sessions led by K-State faculty on topics such as long-term risk and farm income tax. Llewelyn said there are 25 faculty members attending and speaking at the conference. They will meet and greet with attendees during lunch and breaks.
Llewelyn recommended that anyone interested in agriculture and eager to learn about policy, principles, and practices should attend the 2024 Risk and Profit Conference.
Lunch will be provided for attendees. A block of hotel rooms also is available at the Holiday Inn in Manhattan – located across the street from the K-State Alumni Center. More event information is available online from the K-State Department of Agricultural Economics.
