KCC to Hold Virtual Meeting on August 1 to Discuss Evergy’s Future Transmission Projects and Costs to Ratepayers

The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) will hold a virtual meeting on Thursday, August 1, at 8 a.m. to discuss Evergy’s future transmission projects. The public is invited to watch the meeting, which will be livestreamed on the KCC’s YouTube Channel and recorded for later viewing. During the meeting, Evergy representatives will present details of the planned projects, answer questions, and receive comments from Commissioners, Commission Staff, and the Citizens Utility Ratepayer Board (CURB).

The costs of these transmission projects are passed on to ratepayers through a transmission delivery charge (TDC) on their monthly electric bills. This workshop offers the public insight into the transmission planning process, aimed at ensuring reliable infrastructure while maintaining affordability. House Bill 2225, passed by the 2024 Kansas Legislature, mandates a public meeting to review the utility’s annual transmission compliance filings with the Commission.
