Big 12 Officially Welcomes Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah

On August 2, 2024, the Big 12 Conference officially welcomed Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah as new members. Commissioner Brett Yormark expressed excitement about the addition, emphasizing the schools’ strong fan bases, academic and athletic excellence, and the broader national presence the conference now enjoys. This expansion marks a significant milestone as the Big 12 becomes a truly national conference.

Leaders and alumni from the new member schools shared their enthusiasm. Arizona’s President Dr. Robert C. Robbins and Director of Athletics Desireé Reed-Francois highlighted the new opportunities for their student-athletes. Arizona State’s President Michael Crow echoed the excitement for new traditions and growth. Colorado’s return to the Big 12 was welcomed by Chancellor Justin Schwartz and Athletics Director Rick George. Utah’s President Taylor Randall and Athletics Director Mark Harlan emphasized the fit and future opportunities within the conference.
