Feathers, Fluff, and Stuff Poultry Sale

By Kacie Gelino

Brenda Jordan of Riley heads a local agriculture consignment auction with the help of her husband and family.

Feathers, Fluff, and Stuff occurs at the Clay County Fairgrounds every other month from early spring to early fall. Initially, it started in Manhattan, and Jordan and her husband took over the auction after it was moved to Clay Center.

Poultry, livestock, small animals, equipment, produce, and agriculture-related items can be sold at the auction.

Animals must have adequate space in their cages. Boxes are not allowed other than for chicks, and cages will be sold with the animals.

To participate as a seller, you can direct message Feathers, Fluff, and Stuff on Facebook with pictures and a description of the items you wish to sell or arrive early on sale days. Jordan said consignments are officially taken at eight a.m., and the sale begins at noon.

A commission fee of %15 is taken off the sale price of any item sold over $50 to help pay costs and compensate the auctioneers. If the winning bid is $49 or less, there is only a $1 fee. Final sales are cash only.

Jordan said the auction has been an activity for her family and many others throughout the years. Once she and her husband took over the auction, her children helped create the name.

The next Feathers, Fluff, and Stuff auction will take place on August 17th, 2024, at the Clay County Fairgrounds in the Orrin-Hogan Arena.
