Hostess Brands Announces Layoffs and Permanent Closure of Lenexa Facility, Affecting 79 Employees

Hostess Brands, LLC, informed state and local officials last week of its plans to lay off employees and permanently close its Lenexa facility.

The company issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification to the Kansas Department of Commerce, Johnson County Board of County Commissioners, and Lenexa city officials on July 29.

The layoffs and closure will occur in phases, starting on September 7, 2024, affecting 79 employees at the 7905 Quivira Road location.

The J.M. Smucker Company acquired Hostess Brands in a $5.6 billion deal in November 2023.
