Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills has partnered with 3Rivers to support aging homeowners in Riley and Pottawatomie counties through the “Habitat for Humanity Aging in Place” program.

This initiative provides essential construction services to help older adults live in their homes with dignity and comfort. Emily Herbig, Habitat’s homeowner services manager, emphasized the strength of the partnership, with Habitat offering construction expertise and 3Rivers providing community connections. The collaboration has already resulted in the construction of two wheelchair ramps and a handrail for clients with mobility challenges.

The program’s goal is to help adults aged 55 and older live safely and independently by making homes more accessible, such as by installing ramps and widening doorways. Julie Sackrider, 3Rivers’ operations manager, praised the partnership for enhancing the independence and quality of life for seniors and people with disabilities, highlighting the mutual benefits of the collaboration.
