Chiefs Adjust Receiver Combinations Amid Brown’s Injury

By Jayson Henderson

The Kansas City Chiefs are exploring new receiver combinations following Marquise “Hollywood” Brown’s shoulder injury in last week’s preseason opener. Brown, who joined the Chiefs as a free agent, dislocated his shoulder during the first play and is expected to return early in the regular season. However, his availability for the September 5 opener against the Baltimore Ravens remains uncertain.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ coaching staff are now pushing young receivers like first-round pick Xavier Worthy to step up. Worthy, who was targeted on the play that led to Brown’s injury, will likely see increased opportunities. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy emphasized the need for other receivers, including Justin Watson, to fill the void left by Brown.

The Chiefs are also considering keeping seven receivers on the roster to compensate for Brown’s absence, with Mecole Hardman, Skyy Moore, Nikko Remigio, and Justyn Ross competing for spots.
