COVID Cases on the Rise in Manhattan

By: Ryan Duey

COVID-19 cases are rising in Manhattan, according to health officials. Bob Copple, president of Ascension Via Christi, reported that the hospital has seen one to five outpatients daily in the emergency department and three to five inpatients over the past week. However, most patients are not hospitalized primarily due to COVID-19; the virus is often an incidental finding.

Statewide, COVID-19 levels are also increasing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that the virus levels in Kansas wastewater are “very high,” reflecting broader trends across the U.S. Wastewater testing is a key method for tracking these trends.

The CDC advises the public to stay current on vaccines, avoid contact with individuals who may have COVID-19, and self-isolate if they feel unwell.
