The Wakefield volleyball team opened their season at home on Thursday, September 5, with matches against Tescott and Rural Vista. The varsity squad lost both contests, falling to Tescott 13-25, 26-28, and to Rural Vista 21-25, 25-21, 12-25.
Coach Ashley Dumler noted that the team struggled with transitions early on but became more effective after a lineup change. In the Rural Vista match, Wakefield showed aggression and managed to win the second set, but they lost momentum in the third.
Wakefield will look to rebound next week as they travel to Rural Vista for a dual on Tuesday, September 10, followed by the Solomon Tournament on Saturday, September 14.
