River Valley District to Hold Healthy Meal Classes for Those on a Limited Budget in Clay Center

By: Ryan Duey

The K-State Extension River Valley District will offer free nutrition classes to people on limited food budgets. The “Create Better Health Program” is offered through Kansas’ SNAP-Ed Nutrition Program. Six different classes will be provided in the Apollo Towers Community Room in Clay Center on October 17th and 24th, November 7th, 14th, 21st, and December 5th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Karra James, SNAP Nutrition Educator, said the classes are designed to teach attendees how to eat well and be active on a limited budget.

These classes are geared toward adults aged 18 to over 60. James said while anyone can call to sign up, the classes are geared to certain individuals.

Patrons can sign up for as many classes as they like. Class size is limited to 10 participants. Free groceries and kitchen utensils will be offered to those attend all six classes. Call any local Extension office to register. Contact Karra James at the Clay Center office for more information or questions.
