Kansas State’s No. 14 football team earned a convincing 31-7 victory over No. 20 Arizona on Friday night at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Sophomore quarterback Avery Johnson led the way, throwing for 156 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 110 yards.

Arizona opened with a 7-0 lead, but K-State responded quickly with Johnson’s 3-yard touchdown pass to Will Swanson. A 71-yard punt return touchdown by Dylan Edwards put K-State ahead 14-7, and they maintained control for the remainder of the game.

The Wildcats’ defense shut down Arizona in the second half, with a key interception by Keenan Garber in the end zone and a late 1-yard touchdown run by DJ Giddens. K-State outgained Arizona 391-324 in total offense, with a 235-56 advantage in rushing yards.

K-State moves to 3-0 on the season as they prepare to face BYU next week.
