Tiger Football Friday Rally Comes Up Just Short

By Rocky Downing

It was another great battle with the Tigers and SE-Saline Trojans. The Tigers struck early with a three yard TD pass from Cole Pladson to Jace Weller; Walker Henry was good on the PAT. Clay Center would go up 14-6 with 7:22 left in the second quarter when Weston Hammond ran it in from 1 yard out. Henry again was good on the PAT. The second half saw the Tigers fall behind 22-14 in the third quarter. Clay Center would storm back though when Pladson hit Henry inside the five; and Pladson would then dive in from 2 yards. Down 22-20; the Tigers went for the two point conversion and the tie; but came up just short of the pylon ending a terrific high school football game. Pladson led the way on the ground with 153 yards on 20 carries; he was also 8-17 passing for 152 yards and a TD. Weller had 4 catches for 27 yards; Owen Craig caught 3 for 32. The Tigers are now (1-1) on the season and will travel to Louisburg this coming Friday.
