Jayhawks Hockey Skates Into Action

By Jayson Henderson

It’s not widely known that the University of Kansas has a hockey team, but the Jayhawks are already making moves this season. KU recently announced a partnership with AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk, a facility that will serve as their home ice starting November 1st. The rink, featuring an NHL and NCAA-sized ice surface and seating for 1,500, will provide a solid environment for players and fans alike.

The Jayhawks began the season on September 20th and 21st, splitting a two-game series against Dordt University. KU took the first game 6-2 but fell 8-4 in the second. On September 27th and 28th, they faced Nebraska, losing 3-2 and 3-1. Caleb Dusseau scored KU’s lone goal in the second game, while goaltender Duke Bryson made several key saves.

The Jayhawks will look to rebound in their next series against Oklahoma State on October 4th and 5th. With solid players like Dusseau and Nelson, the team aims to keep building as the season continues.
