The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it has launched the Distressed Borrowers Assistance Network to provide personalized financial support to struggling farmers and ranchers nationwide. Announced by the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) at the Farm Aid Festival, the initiative will connect distressed borrowers with tailored assistance to stabilize their finances and avoid losing their farms. FSA Administrator Zach Ducheneaux highlighted the importance of agricultural advocates in helping farmers overcome financial challenges.
The network will involve partnerships with organizations such as Farm Aid, Rural Advancement Foundation International, and universities like the University of Arkansas and Alcorn State University. These partners will offer training on farm loan policies to community-based organizations, ensuring comprehensive support when producers visit FSA offices. The initiative aims to integrate expert service providers to guide borrowers through their financial difficulties.
The network will address both immediate and long-term financial needs, helping distressed producers regain stability and access new opportunities. This investment will strengthen service providers in agricultural communities, offering ongoing support for rural economies.
