October is Bus Safety Month. Garfield School’s Fourth and Fifth Graders recorded a commercial today to remind other students about bus safety rules. USD 379 Community Connections Coordinator Matt Weller directed the video and gave students detailed instructions such as speaking slowly, clearly, and loudly.
The commercial will air on YouTube and social media and be integrated into bus safety and evacuation drills throughout the USD 379 Clay County School District. Fourth and Fifth graders practiced their lines before recording. Advice included, “Don’t throw trash on the floor; keep legs, arms, and other items out of the aisle; speak quietly to your neighbor and others; do not mark on the bus seats or other parts of the bus.”
The video was recorded on a USD 379 bus on the grounds of Garfield School. When production is finished, the commercial will also be available on the USD 379 Facebook page.
