Reflect on the History of a Former Clay County Navy Veteran During Clay County Historical Society’s Annual Meeting

The Clay County Historical Society will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, November 2nd at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Clay County Museum and is open to the public.

The meeting will begin with the Board Members voting on new positions for the upcoming year. Pat Gilbert, Historical Society Board Member, said this year they will have a virtual speaker.

Born in 1914, Esther Taddiken Showe hailed from Clay County. She served as a U.S. Navy Veteran until 1945 with the final rank of Ensign. Her daughter, Author Linda Baker will recount her mother’s time during World War 2.

This year patrons who cannot physically attend the meeting will have an option of attending via Zoom. Registration is requested. You can RSVP on the Historical Society’s website or by contacting the Museum. Anyone interested in attending via Zoom should contact the Museum for the link.
