Preliminary estimates from the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show Kansas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 3.3% in September, unchanged from August but up from 2.6% in September 2023. The state’s labor force participation rate also stayed at 66.2%, higher than the national rate of 62.7%.
Kansas saw an increase of 2,700 total nonfarm payroll jobs in September, with 800 jobs added in the private sector and 1,900 in government. Since September 2023, the state has gained 19,200 nonfarm jobs, with 16,500 in the private sector and 2,700 in government.
The October 2024 Labor Report is scheduled for release on November 15.
