The Clay Center homeschool community is coming together to host a bake sale on Saturday, October 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ray’s Apple Market. Led by Tiffani Kahrs, the event aims to raise money for the installation of a splash pad at the Clay Center Zoo.
Kahrs explained the reason behind the effort:
“We just thought it would be a good way for the Clay Center homeschool kids to give back to our community. We love our small town and want to help it grow”.
The splash pad is described as “a giant sprinkler system”.
It will feature a series of water jets and sprayers on a concrete surface, providing a safe and enjoyable water play area for families and children during the warmer months.
The bake sale will offer a variety of homemade treats, including cookies and brownies, cupcakes, sandwich bread, pumpkin bread, banana bread, and Rice Krispies. The event will also feature a raffle for a $20 gift card and a dozen baked goods. Kahrs emphasized that the kids will do most of the baking, and they will manage the sale and raffle.
Kahrs expressed how important the project is for the community, especially for local families.
“We just think it’d be really good for the community to have this… another thing that everyone can go do”.
After the bake sale, the participating students will visit the zoo to personally deliver the funds raised for the splash pad.
The homeschool community invites everyone to support this project by stopping by Ray’s Apple Market for baked goods and raffle tickets. All proceeds will go directly to help make the splash pad a reality.
