For its seventh consecutive year, KCLY won station of the year for small market radio in Kansas. KCLY station manager Rocky Downing, KCLY/KFRM general manager Kyle Bauer, operations manager Rod “Cowboy” Keen, and broadcaster Jamie Bloom accepted the award at the Kansas Association of Broadcasters (KAB) Hall of Fame Awards Banquet on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, at the Marriott in Wichita. In addition to winning small market radio station of the year, KCLY/KFRM general manager Kyle Bauer was inducted into the KAB Hall of Fame.
“Well, it was a pretty incredible couple of days for KCLY to see Kyle Bauer go in to the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. So well deserved. He and three others were inducted this year. That was Sunday night and then Monday, full day of convention seminar sessions that we had a chance to learn from some of the great. Kacey Wolf, Dan Mears spoke as the keynote speaker that morning on Monday. And of course, the awards ceremony, knowing that you’re going to see a lot of awards coming to KCLY and it’s from everywhere,” Rocky said. He continued, “From production to news to weather coverage to the morning show in vinyl years and other programs throughout the day. So many station winners from this terrific staff that we have here at KCLY and to have a chance with Rod Keen and Kyle and Jamie Bloom and I to get on stage and receive the seventh straight KAB station of the year for KCLY. So very proud of the staff and and what they’ve been able to accomplish, and we are going to work our tails off to bring it home again next year. We hope.”
On top of station of the year, KCLY took home a total of 18 awards, including 8 first-place, 6 second-place, and received 4 honorable mentions.
