Yesterday evening a fire was reported west of Clay Center near the Republican River..

Miltonvale Rural Fire took the call and was dispatched to the fire. Rural Fire Chief Lowell Marsh stated that the fire was a rekindle from a previous fire that had started when lightning struck a tree the Monday prior.  The strong winds caused a fire to reignite, expanding to the area brush.

According to Marsh, the fire did not cause damage to any structures or properties.
