Obituary-Richard P. Anderson

Richard P. Anderson, age 89, of Jamestown, KS, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at North Central Kansas Medical Center, Concordia, Kansas.  He was born on June 7, 1935 in Jamestown, KS to Jens “Jim” Peter & Carrie Margaret (Decker) Anderson.

He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1953.  He joined the Army National Guard and served for a few years after high school.  He married Carol J. Lundblade on September 11, 1955 at the United Methodist Church in Jamestown, KS.  She preceded him in death on December 14, 2002.

When Richard’s father immigrated from Denmark, he was a blacksmith. As a young adult, Richard began a dairy farm. When he married Carol, they ran the dairy together for many years. The dairy farm was very important to Richard, and he built his first dairy barn, a 4-cow stanchion.  He started dairying with a bucket and dumped into a tank than later he built his next barn in the late 70’s and built a double 4 herringbone stanchion (that milked 8 cows) and used this barn until 1998.  It was important to him to always maintain a Grade A Dairy.  Richard enjoyed the dairy farm life but always tried to attend his children’s activities and sports. 

He was former member of the Jamestown Presbyterian & Methodist Churches and a current member of the Jamestown Community Church all in Jamestown, KS.  He was a longtime member and served on the Board for the Jamestown Co-Op and was actively involved with AMPI (American Milk Producer Inc.), where he served on the Board and attended several convention trips.

He is survived by his sons, Robert Anderson (Charlotte), Jamestown, KS & Steven Anderson (Shelly), Courtland, KS; daughters, Tari Philips (Ward), Belvue, KS & Angela Seamans (Bryan), Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Ryan Anderson (Stephanie), Amy Applebee (Trevor), Allan Sheahan (Gabby), Kyle Anderson (Aubrey), Kesley Hagen (Galen), Jessica Philips, Colton Seamans (McKenzie), Jordyn Seamans, Rachelle Anderson (Austin Krier) & Amanda Augustine (Bradley); 13 great grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren on the way.

He was preceded by his wife, Carol & his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, November 4, 2024 at the Jamestown Community Church, Jamestown, Kansas with Pastor Randy Whitley officiating.  Burial will follow at Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, KS.  Visitation will be 1-6 pm with the family greeting friends from 4-5 pm, Sunday, November 3, 2024 all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Jamestown Community Church in care of the funeral home.  For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.  Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, 325 W. 6th St., PO Box 606, Concordia, KS 66901 is in charge of arrangements.
