In a Facebook post, Chief Ryan Woodyard of the Blue Rapids Police Department reported that around 2:30 a.m. on November 8th, a Marshall County deputy pursued a suspect from Manhattan. The suspect, who was considered armed and dangerous, had allegedly committed multiple burglaries and stolen his grandmother’s car and a handgun.
After entering Blue Rapids, the suspect attempted to evade authorities, eventually abandoning the vehicle to flee on foot. Officers established a perimeter, and a K-9 unit began tracking the suspect. Additionally, a Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter from Topeka was dispatched to assist.
At approximately 5:15 a.m., a local citizen spotted the suspect near the Blue Rapids pool and alerted officers. The combined efforts of ground officers and the helicopter allowed police to locate the suspect hiding behind bushes and trees, leading to his arrest without incident.
The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
