Washburn University Launches $250 Million “Forever Washburn” Fundraising Campaign, Surpassing Halfway Goal

Washburn University launched its largest-ever fundraising campaign, “Forever Washburn,” with a goal of $250 million, during a special event on November 1. Dr. JuliAnn Mazachek, president of the university, and Marshall Meek, president of the Alumni Association and Foundation, led the public announcement of the campaign, which has already raised over half of its target.

The campaign is designed to support Washburn’s strategic vision and is built around four key pillars: $80 million for scholarships, $80 million for teaching and program excellence, $25 million for real-world learning and service, and $65 million for infrastructure and space optimization.

The campaign’s quiet phase began in 2019, and donors have already contributed $140 million. With the public phase now underway, university leaders are confident that the Washburn community will continue to support the campaign’s ambitious goals. The Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation ranks in the top 50 public institutions nationwide for endowment per student, reflecting strong support from alumni and donors.
